Valentine Art Projects for Kids

Shared by Mary Catherine Leave a comment

These valentine art projects make a lovely addition to your winter art projects for kids! Be sure to take a look at all the art fun before writing your preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten Valentine’s Day lesson plans.

Art gives children the chance to explore new techniques while encouraging them to express their creativity. These Valentine’s Day art projects definitely meet that criteria. You’ll find ideas that focus on painting, printmaking, and more.

Plus, there’s a lot of additional learning within the valentine art ideas. Math, science, literacy, and motor skills practice abound in the Valentine’s Day art shared below.

Valentine’s Day Art Materials

I LOVE letting the kids have a creative outlet through various art projects throughout the year. I find that they are especially keen on creating when there’s a holiday theme involved! And Valentine’s Day is no exception.

With that in mind, I like to stock up on art supplies at the beginning of each month. During February, I tend to pick up supplies that work well for valentine art projects. Here is my list (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

  • Washable tempera paint
  • Heart cookie cutters
  • Liquid water colors
  • Paint brushes and sponges
  • Oil pastels
  • White glue
  • Glitter
  • Heart doilies
  • Construction paper
  • Heart stickers
  • Recycled odds and ends

This is just a list of a few general suggestions. I always suggest digging through the supply closet for inspiration first. It doesn’t really matter what’s on the list of supplies, as long as the kids are allowed the opportunity to create!
