If you’re looking for art projects for kids to make this spring, I’ve got you covered! These flower art projects are just what you’re looking for.
I say spring, but you can really integrate these flower art ideas into your plans any time of the year! While they’re perfect for a flower theme or a unit about plants, they can also be done just because your students love flowers.
You’ll find multiple art techniques and a variety of art materials in the flower art shared below. Lots of colors and textures for the children to explore as they create. And you can easily make adjustments to the flower-themed art projects based on the needs and ages of your students!
Since this a collection of ideas, you’ll find multiple links below (blue, underlined text). Take a look through all of the flower art projects, then go and click on the links for the ideas you’re most interested in. Each link goes to an individual project with all of the details you need!
Why Create Flower Art with Kids?
If you’re an early childhood educator, a parent of young kids, or someone who works in some capacity with children, you know kids like flowers. In fact, check your pockets. Chances are you have some flowers in there, given to you by your students!
Not all children like flowers, of course, but many are fascinated by growing things. Why not encourage that fascination and allow the kids to explore it through art?
On top of that, flowers are a great way to lead into learning about life cycles. Most children have some kind of prior knowledge of flowers. So we can build on that knowledge as we introduce and teach the kids about life cycles, living things, etc.
If those aren’t enough reasons, here are some skills these flower art projects touch on:
- Color identification
- Fine motor skills
- Scissor use
- Multi-step directions
- Shape identification
- Color theory
- Creativity
- Various art techniques
- Saturation and absorption
- Counting
- Sensory integration
That’s not an exhaustive list, of course, but it’s a great starting point, right?! Feel free to let me know more reasons I haven’t listed here!
