Book-Inspired Activities for Kids {Stress-Free Sunday #7}

Shared by Mary Catherine 20 Comments

I am excited to share some book-inspired activities (and excellent early literacy activities) with you all this week!

If you’re a regular reader of Fun-A-Day, then you probably already know how important I think it is to read with children. Doing book-themed activities in the classroom can help a child better understand what they read in a fun and exciting way. Bringing books to life with fun projects is a great way to strengthen and sustain the children’s love of reading!

book-inspired activities for kids and students, book activities for kids, child activities based on books, arts and crafts based on books

There were TONS of great link-ups at last week’s Stress-Free Sunday!  Thanks to all of you who stopped by to share.  Today’s features are all book-inspired activities for kids.  If you’re familiar with Fun-A-Day, you know I’m rather partial to books and fun activities to extend them:

  • Art and writing based on David Shannon’s Duck on a Bike
  • Books to teach children about rhyming
  • Activities based on Eric Carle’s books
  • Thing 1 and Thing 2 Dress-Up based on The Cat in the Hat
  • Book-Making about The Gingerbread Man
  • Art Activity based on Lois Ehlert’s Snowballs

Now onto this week’s features:

  • A Week of Weather: Day 2 – Clouds {Seedlings Nursery School}
  • Baby-School: Exploring Ladybugs {House of Burke}
  • Exploring the Art of Steam Train, Dream Train, Part 1 {Play Trains!}
  • Happy Birthday Amy Krouse Rosenthal – April 29 {Happy Birthday Author}

I hope you had fun exploring all of the book-inspired activities listed above!  I will be trying out the ideas from our features sometime this month (both at school and at home).  If you have a moment, be sure to check out House of Burke’s first guest post over at Fun at Home with Kids — it’s a fun sensory board inspired by Lois Ehlert’s Planting a Rainbow.

Can you tell I get excited about books and all the fun kiddos can have with them?!  Enough of my rambling, let’s get on with the link up!

If you’d like to grab a button for this link-up, feel free:
