I know that I mainly write about fun learning activities for the kiddos, and that’s definitely the main focus of Fun-A-Day! Sometimes, though, I like to touch a little bit on being a parent. Today I want to share a few articles all about encouragement for moms. This post may be geared towards mamas, but that’s just because I am one. I’m sure what I’m sharing here is just as applicable to dads!
Do you ever have one of “those” days as a parent? Days when the house is an absolute disaster? When you lost your patience with the kid(s)? When you breathed an immense sigh of relief as the child(ren) fell asleep? When you were convinced you’re a horrible parent? When you cried from being so overwhelmed by the job that is motherhood? Sometimes I feel like “those” days outnumber the rest!
Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mama. I love my son to pieces, and I wouldn’t trade this for the world. But being a mama isn’t for the faint of heart. It is HARD (yes, I felt like that needed to be in all caps). Just like anything else, there are going to be ups and downs. With that being said, I wanted to share 10 of my must-reads when you’re having a rough day as a mama:

Oh I just LOVE that quote… and what a great list of links to remind us that we all have bad days sometimes, but the bad days don’t make us bad parents!
I wrote this post a while back when I needed to remember to give myself a break and accept that life isn’t always perfect! http://picklebums.com/2013/03/14/living-in-the-mothering-moment/
Thank you Kate!! I appreciate the link to your post, too — I’m always looking to have more helpful reads for those tough days! 🙂
I really love that quote too…going to print that out. I have serious issues with perfectionism! Can’t wait to explore your links…really needed to read this post…have had a fortnight of bad days with my girls sick and me very tired. It’s good to be reminded that it happens to us all x
I hope everyone’s healthy at your place now, Jode! Sometimes I forget that all parents have tough days — it really does help to know we all deal with these things!

Thanks for more suggestions! I am definitely going to have to check out Beth Woolsey, if only based on her awesome url!!
Love this list! Two of my most popular posts are ones I actually re-read myself all the time. They remind me that I do enough and am enough!

I think I live by that quote! – or perhaps I just want to live by that quote 😉 I just try the best I can each day …
I want to live by that quote, but it’s hard to remember during hard mama days. Doing our best is a good goal for each day!
Thanks for rounding these up, Mary Catherine. I will most definitely be referring back to them on those tough parenting days!
They are my go-to 10 when having a hard mama day. They help, in my opinion!
Great post!
Thank you, Brandy!
