These Easy S’Mores on a Stick are a Perfect Camping Theme Snack

Shared by Mary Catherine 5 Comments

These s’mores on a stick have been a hit for years during a fun preschool camping theme! Even better, they are super easy to make (even if you don’t have access to a campfire).

Are you following Fun-A-Day’s Camping Theme Pinterest board?

S'mores on a stick are an easy, fun treat to make during a preschool camping theme - or just as part of some summer fun!

Make S’Mores on a Stick During a Preschool Camping Theme

Our s’mores on a stick were originaly inspired by my son’s enthusiasm for marshmallow pops a few years ago! We made some for his birthday and Valentine’s Day that year.

Ingredients we used

Marshmallows – medium or large
Sticks of some kind – candy sticks, bamboo skewers, or even straws (when all else fails)
Chocolate – either chocolate chips or broken pieces of chocolate bars
Graham crackers

Directions

Place the marshmallows on a stick of your choosing. We usually use popsicle candy sticks, but straws are our fallback when out of those sticks. I’m sure bamboo skewers would work, too, as long as they aren’t sharp.

Crush the graham crackers. Kids always seem to enjoy this step, and I think it’s pretty cathartic, myself. Place some graham crackers in a zipper bag and get to crushing. Fingers work well, as does banging a plastic hammer (not that I know that from experience or anything!) 🙂

We used giant marshmallows once – it was so funny to watch the kids eat the “s’mores”

Melt the chocolate. During our preschool camping theme a few years ago, we melted the chocolate in a fondue pot. That worked out really well, and we were able to supervise the kiddos as they used it.

At home, I just place some chocolate chips into a microwave-safe cup, add a dash of milk, and then microwave it all for about 20 seconds. Then I stir it all up until it’s smooth.

Now it’s time for dipping! Grab a marshmallow-on-a-stick and dip it into the chocolate. Let some of the excess chocolate drip off, then dip it into graham cracker crumbs.

Enjoy! These tend to be eaten right away, in my experience.

What kind of snacks do you enjoy during a preschool camping theme? Would your kiddos like our silly s’mores on a stick?
