Pretend play is one of my favorite activities for preschoolers at home or at school. Playing pretend is a great way to encourage curiosity and creativity in young children. And, not to mention, it’s a great way to learn about new topics!
I did some wonderful reading over the week, thanks to all of your posts! Today, I’ll focus on some dramatic play activities.
In no particular order, kids can . . .

2. Be super heroes with a homemade jet pack {Just One Mommy}
3. Catch the gingerbread man as they retell the classic story {Fun-A-Day!}
4. Go on a zoo trip with a bevy of stuff animals {House of Burke}
5. Use tons of free printables while pretending to be police officers {Living Montessori Now}
6. Take a “camping” trip and catch some fish {Fun-A-Day!}

I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.
- Crayons
- Glue
- Blocks
- Puzzles
- Safety scissors
- Dramatic play items
- Math manipulatives
- Dry erase markers
- Sensory items
- Play dough
- Craft supplies
- Playground balls
- Music and movement tools
- Books, books, and more books!
When it comes to preschool, this list is really just skims the surface of the wide variety of materials that can be used. The best thing about this age group is that they learn the most while playing. So, whether they’re playing on the playground, building with blocks, or creating a masterpiece, rest assured that the children are learning so many important skills, all while having fun!
